Obituary
George O. Seaver George Seaver passed peacefully out of this life at his home on Whittemore Hill on Wednesday, Aug. 15th. He had been ill for many months with gastric carcinoma, or cancer. His sufferings, though very great, were borne with Christian fortitude. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church, Sunday at three o'clock, conducted by E. A. Cleaver; interment was made at Newton cemetery. Mr. Seaver was born at Dexter, Penobscot county, Maine, April 24,1850. He came to Emporium in September, 1872, where he has since resided most of the time. He was married Sept. 16, 1879, to Miss Dora Hamilton, one of Emporium's esteemed young ladies, at that time engaged in the millinery business on Fourth street. Five children were born to them, but two of which survive the father, viz: D. Floyd, an unusually promising young man of 16 years, and Master Hamilton, a bright little boy aged seven. Mr. Seaver was born and reared a farmer and had a fondness for rural life beyond that of any other vocation. Some years ago he bought a farm on Whittemore Hill, where he moved his family In 1903. In the removal of Mr. Seaver the widow loses a devoted husband, the sons an affectionate father, the church a distinguished member, and the community an excellent citizen. Mrs. Seaver is a lady much esteemed in our midst and will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
