PAUL EUGENE CLUKEY GARLAND - Paul Eugene Clukey, DVM, 54, died March 9, 1993, at a Bangor hospital, after a long illness. He was born Aug. 23, 1938, in Dexter, the son of Paul and Rebecca (Salis- bury) Clukey. He graduated from Dexter High School, Class of 1956 and received his BS from the University of Maine in Orono in 1960. While at the university, he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, the Al- pha Zeta Society and was a member of the Army ROTC. Following gradua- tion, he served in the Army 82nd Air Borne at Ft. Bragg, N.C. for two years. Returning to Maine, Paul taught math and science in the Bel- grade school system for two years. He then moved to lthica, N.Y. and attended Cornell University receiving his D.V.M. in 1971. He practiced with the Kennebec Veterinary Service in Waterville for two years before mov- ing to Lewiston, where he developed his own large animal practice, which he operated for 19 years. He was a member of the Maine and the Ameri- can Veterinary Medical Associations. Paul was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fish- ing, canoeing and camping. He had served as chairman of the Lewiston Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed working with wood and built several canoes as well as other wood prod- ucts, such as Kentucky long rifles and duck decoys. This past fall, Paul fin- ished building his family's home in Garland. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Paul and Helen Clu- key of Dexter; his wife, Merrill (War- ren) Clukey of Garland; a son, Brent Clukey of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Wendy Kobernuss; and a grandson, Brian Kobernuss, both of Troy, N.Y.; a sister,Susan Haggerty of Hompden; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home,238 Main St., Dexter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter with Rev. Maurice Plourde officiating.
