Obituary
ROBERT JOHN IRVIN DEXTER – Robert John Irvin, 68, died December 22, 2005 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 12, 1937 in Dexter the only child of John and Addie (Fanjoy) Irvin. Robert lived most of his life in Dexter, was educated in the local schools, and worked at a variety of jobs doing mill work. He was employed by the Dexter Bottling Company for a number of years, worked for the Forest Service in a fire tower on the Canadian border, and later owned and operated a book store called The Happy Booker with his wife Judy. He was a skilled carpenter and did many carpentry jobs throughout his lifetime. Bob also worked at the Dexter Shoe Company for 22 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing baseball on the semi-pro town team, and was an avid reader. Bob will be remembered as a devoted Boston Red Sox fan. He is survived by a son, Kenneth and wife Lucille of Ripley; a daughter, Amy Withee and grandson Gregory of Vermont. Kristy Vautier was raised by Bob and Judy. There will always be a special place in her heart for “Bumpa”. He will also be sadly missed by Ken and Gail Dostie, Clayton and Judy Bennett, Charlie and Sherry Busque, Gayton and Gloria Landry, Rodney Getchell and his dog Simba. He was predeceased by his loving parents, and his wife Judy. Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, January 4th, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with Pastor Lois Field of the Dexter United Methodist Church officiating.
