Obituary	GEORGE R. SLATER DEXTER, George R. Slater, 81, died November 17, 2005, at the Maine Veterans’ home in Bangor. He was born July 4, 1924, in Dexter, the son of Rexford and Alena (Morgrige) Slater. He is survived by a son and his wife, Brent and Michele Slater of Bangor; a nephew and his wife, Greg and Phyllis Sopkin of Vero Beach, Florida; a grandson and his wife, Daniel and Karen Slater and their son, Adam Slater, all of Manchester, New Hampshire; a special cousin and his wife, Frank and Melinda Atwater of Florida. He was predeceased this past spring by his wife, Janice M. (Dorr) Slater. The family would like to thank Carla Greaney for being there when we needed her, the wonderful staff of The Arbor at Dirigo Pines for treating our Dad as if he were their own, the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital and the Maine Veterans’ home for helping him through the last few weeks, and especially our friend, Molly Stevens, who opened doors for us that we didn’t know existed. Thank you all. At his request there will be no public services at this time.
