Obituary
Geo. W. Wagg. George W. Wagg, well known in Dexter as the road-master of the Maine Central railroad died at Somerville, Mass., last Saturday morning. Mr. Wagg was born in Parkman in 1833 and was one of a family of ten children but one of whom is now living Mr. Wm. Wagg of this village. Mr. Wagg, in his travels in the interest of the Maine & New Hampshire Granite Co., of which he was superintendent, went to Somerville to stop a week ago last Wednesday. In the night be was taken ill with la grippe. Sunday the illness assumed a more serious turn, pneumonia setting in, heart failure accompanying it. As far as learned there was no improvement in the patients conditions from the first. He was connected with the Maine Central railroad for about forty years, nearly two-thirds of the time as road master. He announced his intention of retiring from that office March 3d, 1891, and his retirement soon followed. Officers of the Maine Central testify to his ability as a railroad man and all the employees who ever worked under him speak highly of him. Mr. Wagg leaves a widow and three children, two daughters and a son. The funeral occurred yesterday at Auburn, his home.
