Obituary
Death of Asa Spooner. Asa Spooner, for more than twenty years past a resident of this town, died at his home on Main street last Tuesday morning after a short ilness. His death was caused by stoppage of the stomach which could not be relieved. Mr. Spooner was for many years a member of the firm of Spooner & Brady, proprietors of the Dexter House. On selling out in 1889 they took charge of the Exchange Hotel and run it until purchased by 0. E. Blackden, For several years past Mr. Spooner has been a clerk in the hotel and was well known to the traveling public who will sincerely regret his death. He was a very pleasant and agreeable man and had made a large number of friends in this town and section. He was born in Shirley in 1839 but came here from Stetson. He was a member of Plymouth lodge, I. 0. 0. F. of this place and the members attended the funeral in a body. The funeral was held at his late residence Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock, Rev. W. H. Gould, pastor of the Universalist church, officiating. He leaves a wife, a brother, Frank Spooner of Sangerville, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Dearth of Foxcroft, who was unable to attend the funeral on account of poor health. His brother was present. The relatives have the sympathy of our people generally in their bereavement. The interment was in Mt. P easant cemetery.
