Obituary	Loren Hayes, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Hayes, died at their home on Wall street last Monday morning. He had been very ill for over two weeks from spinal meningitis and while his death was not unexpected yet for the past week or more there had been hopes that he might recover. Last Friday new complications arose and Dr. Woodcock of Bangor was sent for and an operation was performed, but the doctors could give the sorrowing parents little or no hope. The operation gave him temporary relief but the extremely hot weather and his lack of strength soon made it evident he could not long survive. A fit of coughing brought the end suddenly. He was a young man of more than usual ability, amiable, quiet and a general favorite wherever known, and being an only child the blow falls with especial force upon the bereaved parents. They have the sympathy of our people generally in their great trouble. He was 17 years old the 18th of last October. The funeral services were held at the residence Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The Rev. W. H. Gould officiated.
