Obituary
Dr. Seth B. Sprague, a native of Dexter, died at his home in Jersey City, New Jersey, June 5th. He was born in Dexter in 1840 and was a graduate of Bowdoin college. He practiced medicine in Maine 24 years before going to Jersey City where he practiced 10 years. At one time he ran for Congress on the Democratic ticket in the Fourth Congressional district of Maine, and although he was not elected in that Republican stronghold he succeeded in cutting down to a minimum the Republican majority. He was a member of the staff of Governor Garcelon in 1879. He was military secretary with the title of major. A widow and five children survive him: Dr. Ezra K. Sprague, Past Assistant Surgeon, Marine Hospital service; Olive S., who is Mrs. Charles P. Cooper; Seth B. Jr., Lillian V. and Mary A. The funeral services were held June 6th, Rev Dr. Ruth of St. Paul's M. E. church conducting the services. The interment was at Milo. Dr. Sprague was prominently identified with the orders of F. and A. M. and A. 0. W.
