Obituary
George E. Murphy George E. Murphy, one of our respected citizens, died very suddenly last Monday morning from injuries received the day before, aged 59 years, 5 months. He had served as watchman for the Wassookeag Woolen Co. for several years and also had worked for others in this village. Recently he had been in the employ of Elbridge A. Flanders at North Dexter. On Sunday he was engaged watering the cows when one of them run against him, knocking him down and bruising him severely. He did not feel at the time that he was seriously injured but Monday morning felt worse and thought he had better come home. Mr. Flanders at once hitched up his team and started with him. On coming into the village Mr. Flanders asked him where he should go and he said “Highland Avenue." These were the last words he spoke. On reaching his home Mr. Flanders saw that he was in a serious condition and called for Mrs. Murphy to assist him when it was found he was dead. Mr. Murphy was born in Garland but had lived here for a long time. He was a good, faithful man and will be sincerely mourned by his many friends. He is survived by a widow. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. J. L. Sanders officiating.
