CHESTER 'CHET' RAYMOND STROUT DEXTER - Chester "Chet" Ray- mond Strout, 88, died Aug. 2, 1998 at a Dover-Foxcroff hospital. He was born in Garland, Sept. 23, 1909, the son of Dr. Arthur C. and Grace (Preble) Strout. Chet was a graduate of N.H. Fay High School in Dexter, Class Of 1929, and of Cornell University in New York class of 1932, where he studied poultry husbandry. He operated Twin Brook Poultry Forms in Gar- land and Dexter. He also worked as a bus driver, as a grocer at Brown's Market and as a produce manager at Bud's Shop 'N Save in Dexter. He was active in Penobscot Lodge No. 39 AF & AM in Dexter, where he was a past master and a 50-year member. He was also a member of several other Masonic bodies and a member of the Universalist Church in Dexter. He had been active in Kiwanis and in Dexter town affairs including the Board of Selectmen. At the time of the establishment of the public beach, he was active;in the Fish and Game Association. He was predeceased by his wife, Thurley (Strout)Strout; and a son, Bruce. He is survived by a son and his wife, Barry and Adrienne Strout of Dex- ter; a brother and his wife, Warren and Norma Strout of Orono; six grandchildren and their families, James D. Strout Sr., Kelly. (Strout) Burns, Jody A. Strout, Jeff A. Strout, Teresa (Strout) Lawson and Tracey (Strout) Cota; 12 great- grandchildren, five nieces, and a beloved companion of 14 years, Madeline Atwater. He will be missed by friends and neiqhbors. Known for his witty sense of humor, he was an avid Celtics and Red Sox fan. He loved reading and took great inter- est,and pride in his famiiy, and loved the camp on the Shore Road. There will be no public calling, hours at his request. Masonic and grove- side services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with, the Rev. Richard Hanson officiating. After the services, friends are welcome at the Strout camp on the Shore Road in Dexter. In lieu of flowers, donaitions may be made to the Penobscot Lodqe No. 39 AF & AM Building Fund, or a charity of your choice Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
