MILTON S. HERRING DEXTER - Milton S. Herring, 84, died Aug. 3, 1998 at a Dexter health care facility. He was born Feb. 2, 1914 in St. Albans, son of Ora and Winnifred (Cooley) Her- ring. He attended Dover-Foxcroh schools and was an employee of area woolen mills until retirement. He was an avid sports fan and en- joed fishing at the family camp in St. A1bans. He attended the First Free Baptist Church in Dexter. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leila (Downs) Herring of Dexter; two sons and their wives, Rev. Robert and Judy Herring of Cundy's Har- bor and Steven and Barbara Her- ring of Garland; three sisters Car- letta Pitt of Skowheqan, Louise Chapman of Carthage and Vergina Lee of Dover-Foxcroft; three brothers Kenneth Herring of Dover-Foxcroft, Wilfred Herring of Abbot and Dur- wood Herrinq of Las Vegas, Nev.; three qranddaughters Linia McLain of Dover-Foxcroft, Allyson and An- gela Herring og Garland; two great- grandchildren Esther and Aaron McLain and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Crosby & Near Fu- neral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the First Free Baptist Church in Dexter with Rev Harold Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
