JAMES SMITH GARTAND - James Smith, 67, died at his home here Saturday. He was born Dec. 3, 1901, in Harris, Ga., the son of Howard and Lilly (Nash) Smith. He lived in the Dexter area most of his life, and worked in woolen mills. He attended the United Methodist Church od Dexter. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nettie Smith of Garland; seven sons, Donald of the Panama Canal Zone; Robert and Russell, both of Garland, Harrald, John and Eugene, all of Dexter, and James H. Jr.,of New Hamp- shire; nine daughters, Mrs. Roland (Evelyn) Dulac, Mrs. Garald (Katherine) Nichols, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Pooler, all of Dexter, Mrs. Llewellyn (Frances)Small of Woolrich, Pa., Mrs. Otis (Josephine) Bouttilier of Clairmont, N.H., Mrs. Leon (Pauline) Downs of Dover-Foxeroft, Mrs. Merle (Gloria) Haskell of Garland, Mrs. Carl (Loriue), Feliciani of Brewer, and Miss Carrol Smith of Garland; two, brothers, Reu- ben of Dexter I and Royal of Guilford; four sisters, Mrs. Les- lie (Annie) Fish of Anson., Mrs. Morris (Alice) Towle, Mrs Bertha Savage, and Mrs. Leon (Ellen) Towle, all of Dexter; 23 grandchildren;- one great-grand- child; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be in the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, Tuesday at 2 P.m. with the Rev. Philip Mather officiating. Spring burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, afternoon and evening at the funeral home.
