Obituary	Mrs. John Martin. The many friends of Mrs. John Martin were shocked to hear of her sudden death at her home about 1 o'clock Friday noon, Nov. 11. She was in the village last Wednesday and made a visit to her daughter, Mrs. Theodore Bragg, who had moved to this village the Saturday before, and seemed as well as usual. Thursday she complained of her stomach and Mr. Martin went for their daughter at noon, carrying her back at night. The next morning Mrs. Martin arose and dressed herself, going to the kitchen where her husband, on coming in with the milk, found her fainted in her chair. As soon as she regained consciousness so he could leave her on quilts and pillows on the floor, he went for assistance. Mrs. Rand and he succeeded in getting her back into her bed. Mr. Rand then went for Mrs. Bragg, who stayed with her mother while Mr. Martin went to the funeral of Isaac Russ; he got home about one o'clock and asked his wife how she was feeling and she told him she felt comfortable with the exception of her stomach, which burned or something she couldn't quite describe. He and his daughter then sat down to dinner, and soon they heard a choking sound, and when they arrived at her bedside she gasped once or twice and passed quietly away, never stirring. The deceased was born in Exeter, Maine, March 22d, 1838, moving with her parents to Dexter when a young lady. She was married to John Martin in 1860. Mrs. Martin was a quiet, home-loving Christian, her health never permitting her to go around much, as she was under the doctor's care for many years, always being subject to fainting spells. She and her husband were charter members of Dexter grange, No. 155, but of late years she did not attend the meetings. She leaves a husband, daughter, one sister, Mrs. Clara A. Libby, of Curtis Corner, Me., two brothers, Edwin G. Libby of Rocky Ford, Col., and Alonzo C. Libby of this place, besides many nieces and nephews, among whom are, Mrs. Frank Westerfeld of Alexandria, Minn., Mrs. Bert Haseltine of Rocky Ford, Colo., Arthur C. Crowell and Stanley L. Crowell both of Springfield Mass. Comforting words were spoken to the mourners, grangers, old neighbors and Masons by Rev. W. H. Gould, at the home Sunday at 1 o'clock. The bearers were John Morrison, Charles Bates, Joseph Sturtevant and Moses Watson. Chas. Hutchinson conducted the funeral. Interment was in the lot in Elmwood cemetery.
