LESLIE CURTIS 1859 - 1931 Leslie Curtis was born in Dexter in 1859, the son of Bernard and Martha (Russell) Curtis. He was born, lived and died in the two story, double house on Spring street, built by the two brothers, Charles W., and Bernard Curtis. Mr. Curtis was a member of Plymouth Lodge of Odd Fellows and Martha Washington Rebekah Lodge, F. and A. M., and Wassookeag chapter of the Eastern Star. He was a charter member of the Eagle Engine Company when it was organized in 1875 and continued in active membership until his health prevented his attending the regular meetings, when he was made an honorary member. For a number of years he was Foreman of the Dexter Fire Department. Mr. Curtis served faithfully for several terms as Superintendent of the Dexter Water Works. At one time he was in the laundry business on Grove street and established the Bottling works on Free Street, from which business lie retired about 1921. He married Miss Nellie M.
