LAROY L. SEVEY RIPLEY - LaRoy L. Sevey, 70, died June 1,1999, at a Pittsfield health care facility after a coura- geous four year battle,with cancer. He was born in Ripley, Oct. 25, 1928, the son of John and Martha (Dearborn) Sevey. He attended Ripley schools and graduated from N.H. Fay High School in Dexter. He then received his bachelors degree in animal hus- bandry from the University of Maine, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. After graduation he returned to Ri- rley where he owned and operated his dairy farm for,48 years. He took great pride in his farm and in the farming profession in general. He married Mary Louise Chapman, May 2, 1959. He was a long time member of the Ripley Grange and a member of the Cambridge Masonic Lodge No. 157. He served on the SAD No. 48 school board for sev- eral years and was a member of the Ripley Cemetetary Committee. He was a 30 year member of the Somerset County Committee of the Farm Service Agency, where he also served as chairman and vice chair- man. He was a member and former committee member of the Somerset County DHIA, a member of the Maine Farm Bureau, a member and former committee member of the Boston Milk Producers , and a life time member of the Holstein Asso- ciation. He is survived by his wife of Ri- pley; two sons, and their wives, An- rew and Beverly Sevey of Ripley and David and Marylou Sevey at Barrington, N.H.; three sisters, Helen Snack of Abbot, Jean and her husband, John Kezerian of Arling- ton, Mass. and Marilyn and her husband, Francis Williams of South Easton, Mass.; three grandchildren, Marissa and Emily Sevey of Ripley and Michael Sevey of Barrington, N.H. and a step grandson, Chad Reed of Newport; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter, where mosonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lewis Bell, offi- ciating. Burial will be at Ferndale Cemetery, Ripley.
