CLARENCE M. ABOOTT JR. ETNA and DEXTER -- Clarence "Whippy" Abbott Jr., died Aug. 31, 1989 at a Bangor hospital,after a long illness. He was born in Stetson Aug. 4, 1918, the son of Clarence M. and Hattie (Hilton) Abbott. He was educated in schools of Stetson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War 11, serving in the Battle of the Bulge and the European Theatre. He worked as a carding room machinist in wollen mills in Corinna and Orano. He was boss Carder for Dumbarton Woolen Mill,Dexter. He was also em- ployed as a school bus driver for the Dexter Schpol District, and, worked for Gouylettes Garage in Dexter. He re- tired in 1981, after 22 years of employ- ment from Fayscott Landis Co., Dex- ter. He is survived by one daughter, Alice Ann Mills of Etna; two grand- daughters and spouse, Trudy L. Tru- man and Lisa B. and David Randall, all of Hampden; one great-grandson, Ryan W. Truman of Hampden; two cousins, Harriette Colby of Milo and Laurence Ryder;of Charelston. He will also be remembered by a dear friend, Eleanor Brown and her family of New- port. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Gertrvde E.(Mooers)Ab- bott in 1979; and a son, David S. Ab- bott in 1959. Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home, 24 High St., Newport, where funeral services will be conducted 2 pm. Sun- day, with the Rev. William Stone offi- ciating. lnterment will be in the fam- ily lot, Clark Hill Cemetery, Stetson.
