Obituary
Hon. Josiah Crosby Hon. Josiah Crosby died this morning at his home on Zion's Hill after an illness of a few weeks, aged 87 years, 5 months. Josiah Crosby was born in Dover, N. H., Nov. 24th, 1816, his parents being Oliver and Harriet Crosby. The family moved to Maine in 1820 and Mr. Crosby fitted for College in Foxcroft Academy. He entered Bowdoin college and graduated in 1835, moving to Dexter in 1845, where he engaged in the law business and has successfully followed it up to the time of his last illness. Mr. Crosby was an able man and has occupied many positions of trust. He was a member of the House in 1856, 1863 and 1865, and in 1867 and 1868 represented Penobscot county in the Senate, being President of that body in 1868. He has travelled extensively visiting Great Britian and France in 1878. He was a director of Dexter National Bank and counsel for the Dexter Savings Bank. He was a man that was highly regarded, not only at home but throughout the state. He leaves a wife and seven children of whom three are here at present, J. Willis, Oliver of Minneapolis, and Mrs. A. B. Stickney of Chicago. The funeral arrangements have not been made at this writing.
