Obituary	Elmer E. Swanton. News of the death of Elmer Ellsworth Swanton has reached his relatives in this town. He died in Pomona, Cal., the morning of April 2d after a brief illness from Bright's disease. Mr. Swanton was born in this town May 27, 1861, and was named after the martyred Col. Ellsworth who was shot at Alexandria, Va., that year. He learned the printers trade here and in 1885 went to California where he has since resided, most of the time engaged in printing and publishing. In 1902 he went to Pomona, Cal., and bought the Weekly Review which he changed to daily and has since published. Mr. Swanton was a man that was highly regarded there and his death is sincerely mourned. He leaves a wife and four children beside an aged mother who resides at Upland, Cal. The funeral was held April 3d under the direction of the Fraternal Brotherhood, of which he was a member. The Presbyterian celrgyman officiated. Mr. Swanton was a cousin of Mrs. C. F. Bean of this village.
