Obituary
Ruby Jumper Safford Mrs. Ruby Jumper Safford who passed away on Friday afternoon at her home on Free St. was born in Dexter March 28, 1817, the third child of Edmund and Sally Jumper. She was one of a family of ten children, only one of whom, the eldest, Mrs. Abigail D. Sturtevant of this town, is living. She was married to Hiram Safford who passed away about ten years ago. Her long life was spent in this vicinity and most of it in this town. She had ten children, four of whom are living: Mrs. Helen Dove of Upham, Mass., Mrs. Ruby Campbell of this town, with whom she lived, Mrs. Sarah Bellows of Worcester, Mass., and Charley Safford of Westbrook. There are twenty grandchildren and two great-grand-children. Mrs. Safford was a woman of exceptionally fine qualities and drew about her a large circle of devoted personal friends. She as quiet and unassuming in manner, dearly beloved by those who knew her best. Her mind was clear to the last and she carried her weight of years as a crown. Tenderly cared for by her daughter, her last days were full of brightness and peace. She trusted in her Saviour, and was ready for the Master's call. Funeral services were held from the home Monday at 2 p. m., Rev. Stanley Gates Spear officiating. Musical selections were rendered by Mrs. S. L. Small and Mrs. W. H. Carr. The bearers were Samuel Eldridge, Charles Favor, E. H. Jones and A. W. Kimball. There were many beautiful floral offerings, emblematic of the grace and beauty of the life that had gone. The aged sister, the children and many relatives have the sympathy of all in their loss.
