Plouff, Fred Tarbox, all of Dexter; Harold Higgins, Herbert St. Onge and Manuel Berger. There was a group of registered nurses in attendance. Interment was in the family lot at Maple Grove cemetery, East Bangor. Dexter friends attending the service were: Miss Irma Ross, R. N., Miss Stella Young, R. N., Miss Mary Flynn, R. N., Mrs. Bibiana Mountain, R. N., Mrs. Norman F. Plouff, Miss Marion Menderson, Mrs. G. R. Ramsay, Mrs. Frank Howard, Mrs. Fred Tarbox and Mrs. H. Lewis Taylor. She is survived by a brother, Barney C. Higgins of Seattle, Wash., a niece, Mrs. Glenn L. Farnham, Bangor; a nephew, Harold Higgins, Belfast; also several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Born in Thorndike, the daughter of Albert S. and Mary Ann (Patterson) Higgins, she was educated in the Thorndike schools and graduated from the Paine Private Hospital School of Nursng in Bangor, now St. Joseph's Hospital. She served as head nurse at the Paine Hospital for a number of years, and in 1920 came to Dexter as superintendent of the Plummer Memorial Hospital, a position she capably filled until 1940, when she retired. Assuming that position with the founding of the local hospital, she had the satisfaction of assisting in developing the small institution into a modern well-equipped hospital. Possessed of a rare and charming personality, as well as out-standing skill in nursing, she brought comfort and cheer to many patients and made a host of friends. After her retirement she made her home here until two years ago, when she sold her home on Main street and moved to Bangor. She was a member of the Dexter Woman's Literary Club, the Paine Hospital Alumnae Association and a former member of the Maine State Nurse's Association.
