(also from 2-7-1907, p.5) Annie M. Howard. Died at her home in Dexter, Jan. 30, 1907, at the age of 71, Annie Merrill, widow of Daniel H. Howard. She was born in St. Albans, Maine, Jan 19,1836. On her marriage to Mr. Howard, 43 years ago, she came to Dexter, which has since been her home. For 28 years she was a sufferer. A form of paralysis, which became more complete as years passed, left her at last entirely helpless. In Mrs. Howard's life there was the beauty of resignation. Throughout the long years of suffering she never complained, but she bore her affliction with a sweet patience that made her presence a benediction. The beauty of her character made her beloved by all who knew her. In the years of almost constant pain her thoughts were always of others, never of herself. And even in the later months of her helplessness, her desire seemed always to be to relieve the care of those who were serving her. Mrs. Howard was a lifelong and faithful member of the church, having united with the Congregational church in St. Albans in her girlhood. She leaves a son, Frank M., of Dexter, and three daughters, Grace P. and Mable E., also living in Dexter, and Alice, wife of M. B. Percival, of Bangor. A second son, Otis O., died in Dexter a few years ago.
