Obituary	Thomas Clukey Fatally Injured Thomas Clukey, aged about 66 years, met with a fatal accident Saturday afternoon by being thrown from his team while driving up Main street at a furious pace, striking his head against the curbing in front of the store of 0. E. Blackden Co., and receiving injuries from which he died in a couple of hours. Mr. Clukey, who had been in the lower part of the village, came driving up Main street soon after 4 o’clock, standing up in his wagon with his horse going at a furious pace. When near 0. E. Blackden Co’s store the wheels of his wagon hooked into the wheels of a carriage containing Harold Sampson, the young son of Frank G. Sampson, who with a companion was driving down the street. The wagons were soon cleared however with no serious results and the wagon came in contact with the hydrant next to the curbing. The collision was of such force that the man was thrown headlong, a distance of about 20 feet and struck on the back of his head on the curbing. The horse continued on his run leaving the wagon in front of Blethen's store further up the street. The inured man was picked up and Dr. J. H. Murphy and Dr. J. W. Sawyer were summoned. The back of his head was badly crushed by coming in contact with the curb. He was taken to his home in the upper part of the town, where he died at about 6 o'clock without regaining consciousness. The deceased has been a resident of Dexter for quite a number of years. He is survived by a widow and four children.
