Martha A. Bumps Mrs. Martha A. Bumps died Saturday, Feb. 8th, at the home of her son, Dr. W. A. Bumps, on Spring street, at the age of 83 years, two months and 23 days. She was the widow of the late Benjamin F. Bumps of this town. Mrs. Bumps was born in Newport and was one of a family of 11 children. Her maiden name was Rollins. In 1847 she married Benjamin Bumps and afterwards lived in Brownville, Milo, Bangor and for the greater part of her married life, in Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Bumps returned east about 17 years ago and up to the death of Mr. Bumps, lived on lower Spring street, in this village. Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her son, Dr. W. A. Bumps. She is survived by three brothers and three sisters: Oliver Rollins of Ashland, Frank E. Rollins of Bangor, John Rollins of Milo, Mrs. A. D. Bumps of Forest City, Mo., Mrs. Emma Hicks of Ottawa, Kansas, and Mrs. John Herrick of Lagrange. Three sons also survive: C. M. Bumps of Manton, Mich., F. F. Bumps, Detroit, Mich., and Dr. W. A. Bumps of Dexter. The funeral services were held at the home of Dr. Bumps, Tuesday forenoon at ten o'clock, Rev. J. A. Corey, assisted by Rev. S. G. Spear, officiating. The remains were placed in the receiving tomb at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
