Obituary	Elias Adams Mower Elias Mower, one of the oldest residents of Dexter, passed away at his home Sunday evening, Feb. 9th, after a short illness, at the age of 87 years and 27 days. He was born in Corinna in 1821 and was the son of Isaac and Sallie (Adams) Mower, who settled in that town in their early married life. Isaac Mower was a native of the town of Green, Me., and his wife was from Uxbridge, Mass. Four children were born to them after their settlement in Corinna, Augusta, Francis, Elias Adams and Joseph. Elias Mower married for his first wife, Rhoda Harlow, and they settled upon the farm in Ripley owned by F. A. Blodgett. Here their three children were born, of which only one survives, Mrs. W. H. Farrar of Ripley. His wife having died in 1863, he married two years later, Mrs. Mary 0. (Kimball) Durrell, who survives him. Mr. Mower has four grandchildren now living: Mrs. Ethel F. Whitman and Dr. Ervin Connor of Orange, Mass., Mrs. A. B. Linscott of Freedom, and Reginald Farrar, now a student at Colby college. Mr. Mower has lived on lower Main street in this village for the past 21 years. He has been a constant attendant at the Baptist church and was one of the first to make a move toward the erection of the Baptist church here. Mr. Mower has been a hard-working man in his lifetime and has won the respect of his fellow citizens. Honest and upright in his dealings, he will be greatly missed. The funeral took place from his late home, Wednesday at 10 a.m., the services being conducted by Rev. J. C. Hyde, pastor of the church of which the deceased had for so many years been a member. The interment was in the family lot at the Higgins cemetery in Corinna.
