Obituary
A Sad Accident. The heartfelt sympathy of our people his been awakened by the sad affliction that has come to the family of William E. Leonard of this village A telegram was received by them last Monday announcing that their youngest son was instantly killed while at work in a mill of the Fish River Lumber Co., in Winterville, that day. A letter was received by the family on Tuesday from the proprietors of the mill, giving particulars of the accident. It seems he was engaged outside the mill, building a loading platform, and for some purpose went under the mill where be was caught on some shafting. The remains were brought to the home of his parents on Maple street, Wednesday morning, and the funeral will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon, Rev. H. B. Haskell officiating. Two sisters of the deceased, Daisy from Boston, and Mrs. Stella Proctor of Windsor, Vt., with Mr. Proctor, were present at the funeral. The only brother, Oscar, resides in Los Angeles, Cal. Charles H. Leonard, the deceased was 23 years old and was known to many of our people as he had visited his parents here and worked here for a time at his trade as a carpenter. He was a young man of more than usual ability and promise and his sudden death is sad indeed. His employers speak of him in the highest terms, both as a workman and as to his character.
