FRANCES A.(FERN)LIBBY BANGOR - Frances Arlene (Fern) Libby, 64, wife of Donald E. Libby, went home to be with her, Lord after a brave battle with can- cer, Oct. 24, 1996. She was born Nov. 1, 193l, in Dexter, the daugh- ter of Newell T. and Esther (Libby,) Fern. Frances was educated in the Dexter school and graduated from Gordon College and Beal College. After having taught school in Gar- land and Pittsfield, she was a mis- sionary in Kodiak, Alaska, for eight years. Upon her return to Maine, she worked for Diamond lnterna- tional, the former Merrill Bank, Fleet Bank and Libby Electric, all of Bangor. She was a devoted mem- ber, choir member, and member of the missionary committee of Colum- bia Street Baptist;Church of Bangor; In addition to her loving husband, surviving are her brothers, sister and there spouses, Ethel Fern of Dexter, Marian and Clair Wood of Veazie, N. Thomas Jr. and Louise, Fern of Clifton, Ronald and Rosena Fern of De@f@r, Bruce.a@nd @Carol Fern of Bridgeport, Conn., Jean and Ralph Rollins of Garland, Joyce and Paul MacDonald of Carmel; seven nieces and seven nephews, two grandnieces, and several cousins. She will be remembered with love by her stepchildren, Donald Libby of Bangor, Ronald and Connie Libby of Orrington, Brenda (Libby) and Scott Chapman of Old Town; and her sev- en stepgrandchildren. Friends may all 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor,where funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday with the Rev. Dr. Foster E. Williams, the Rev. Elliot P. Kerns and the Rev. Dr. Ted Smith officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.Gifts in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Maine De- vision Inc., 52 Federal St., Brunswick O4011, or the memorial fund of the Columbia Street Baptist Church, 63 Columbia St., Bangor 044Ol.
