BERTHA E. KAUFMAN DEXTER - Bertha E. Kaufman,79, wife of Francis Kaufman, died June 23, 1996, at her Dexter residence. She was born Nov. 14, 1916, at Pa- lermo, the daughter of Leon and Margie (Howard) Clark. She gradu- ated from Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1935, and married Francis Kauf- man in 1936. She belonged to many social and civic organizations, in- cluding the Sunshine Club, Maine-ly Dolls Club and the Dexter Womens Literary Club. She was an avid bridge player and a talented artist, From 1953 to 1975, she was em- ployed as secretary and bookkeeper at Dexter Motor Sales. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Roger and Beverly, Lee and Peggy, all of Dex- ter, five brothers, Howard Clark of Windham, Frank Clark of Dover- Foxcroft, Leon and Dennis Clark, both of Florida, and Gordon Clark of Dexter; five,grandchildren and their spouses, and three great-grandchil- dren. She was predeceased by two sisters and a brother. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 238 Main St., Dexter, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. John Ross of the First Baptist church of Dexter officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dex- ter.
