EUGENE P. GOULETTE GUILFORD - Eugene P. Goulette, 71, surrounded by his family, went home to be with the Lord,Dec. 1, 1996, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 12, 1925, in Dex- ter, the son of Philip and Marie-Vic. toria Goulette. Educated in the Dex- ter schools, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943. He served in the 27th Infantry Division during World War 11 and attained the rank of staff ser- geant. He was an interpreter during the war and participated in many major battles, including Omaha Beach, St. Lo, the Ardenne Forest, the Hurfgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, European Campaign Medal, World War 11 Vic- tory Medal and Combat Infantry Man Badge. After the war, he han- dled displaced persons from the Da- chau concentration camp before re- turning to the States. He was the owner and operator of the IGA Foodliner in Guilford from 1961 until his retirement in 1976. He was a volunteer at the Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft, a commu- nicant of Holy Family Catholic Church of Sangerville, where a served as a lector and a member of the parish council, and Father Pat- rick Hayes Council of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Margaret Palmer Goulette; one daughter, Laurine G. French of Monson; three sons, Lt. Col. Ret. James P. Goulette and his wife, Eileen, of Cape Coral, Fla., Thomas P. Goulette and his wife, Pamela, of Guilford, Joseph E. Gou- lette and his wife, Morgan, of Pleas- anton, Calif.; I4 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Goulette of Dexter; three sisters, Christina and her hus- band, Joseph Murphy, of Winslow, Vernita and her husbcind, Hank Ga- jewski of Dover, N.H., Virginia and her husband, Kenneth Veazie, of Corinna. He was predeceased by three sisters, Ernestine Goulette, Inez David and Geraldine Dyer. Friends may call between,the hours of 4-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Do- ver-Foxcroft, with Fr. Joachim Thanh officiating. Burial with mili- tary honors will be in the family lot, Dover Cemetery.
