Elizabeth 'Bette' Gregoire DOVER-FOXCROFT - Elizabeth D. 'Bette' Gregoire, 59, founder of the In- ternational Seaboard Majorette Association, died unexpectedly May 14, 1988, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Dexter, April 9,1929, daughter of Ralph and Vera (Delano) Davis. She was a graduate of N.H.Fay High School in the class of 1947. Mrs. Gregoire was a baton twirling instructor for many years, starting her first school in 1944. After organizing the Seaboard Majorette Association she ac- tively served as president until 1986 when her daughter, Debrah-Ann Albee took over the position. Mrs. Gregoire required a heart operation early in 1985. The communi- ty responded by naming February 1985 a month-long special campaign to raise funds to help finance her anticipated surgery. A total $15,000 was raised through special events and donations. She was a member of the Chadbourne-Merrill Post, American Legion Auxiliary, and St. Thomas Catholic Church. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Galen (Katheryn) Costigan of Dover-Foxcroft and Debrah-Ann Albee of Cape Elizabeth; a stepdaughter, Charlene Finney of Portland; one foster daughter, Nancy Carter of New York City; one grandson, Anthony Costigan of Dover- Foxcroft, and two grand- daughters, Angela Costigan of Dover- Foxcroft, and Damianne Albee of Cape Elizabeth; three stepgranddaughters, Lynn, Donna, and Karen Finney, all of Portland; two brothers, Wendell Davis of Skowhegan and Roger Davis of Dex- ter; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her hus- band, Francis "Frank" Gregoire, on April 14, 1988, and her brother, Keith Davis on March 24, 1988. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday morning at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Marcel Robitaille officiating. Burial was in the family lot in Rural Grove Cemetery.
