Obituary
Elijah Leeman The passing away of Elijah Leeman has taken from the earth life a good man and true, a man of integrity and of genuine worth and as such he has been known in Dexter, where he has for a long time been a respected and loyal citizen. Those who knew him best, best understood the real value of the man who has just left us, and his kindly disposition and quiet ways endeared him to all who have been associated with him in these later years. Earlier in life his days were strenuous and mingled with many difficulties and disappointments, but he "endured hardness as the good soldier of Jesus Christ" that he was, and free from all complaint or bitterness he accepted his lot in cheerful contentment and the "peace which passeth all understanding." Mr. Leeman was an outspoken advocate of the temperance cause and never failed to show his colors whenever and wherever opportunity offered. He was one of the three charter honorary members of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of this town. He has been for many years a loved and honored member of the First Universalist church of Dexter, and last Sunday morning, previous to the observance of Holy Communion, memorial services were observed in which pastor, Rev. S. G. Spear, in well-chosen words, paid a fitting and tender tribute to his life and character.
