Obituary	MAVIS I. BATEY DEXTER - Mavis I. Batey, 71, died Dec. 14, 1998, at a Dover- Foxcroft hospital. She was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Brookton, the daughter of Richard and Maude (Craig) Thompson. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Batey of Dexter; a son and his wife, James and Linda Batey of Garland; four grandchildren, Erika Batey of Portland ,Joshua Batey of Dexter, Kathy Batey of Bangor and Lauro Sullivan of Windham; a sister and her husband, Leone and War- ren Bailey of Ornville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and a half brother. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation of Maine, 930 Brighton Ave., Portland 04102. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
