HELEN B. LAUGHTON WASHINGTON, D.C. and DEXTER Helen B. Laughton, 44, died April 2, 1996, at home affer a courageous battle with a brain tumor. She was born in Dexter and lived in Ripley. She moved to Washington, D.C. in 1980. Helen was a graduate of Dex- ter High School, the University of Maine at Orono, and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She was em- ployed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Washington for the post 15 years. She was a highly respected sponsor in AA for 15 years. She also sang with bands and as a soloist both in Maine and Washington, D.C. Helen was predeceased by her father, John N. Laughton in 1990. Surviving are her mother, Norma Laughton of Cartere, N.J.; a brother, John S. of; Thurmont, Md.; two sisters, Eliza- beth Carter of Portland and Jane Bull of Carter, N.J.; two nieces, three nephews, one grandnephew; also a special, devoted friend, David Ramroth of Washington, D.C. A me- morial service will be held at St. Margret's Episcopal Church, 2 p.m., May 4, 1996, in Washington, D.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Maviner Project, 1707 L St., Suite 1060, Washington, D.C. 20036 (A cancer support group); or to the charity of one's choice.
