Obituary
Mary L. Kimball Mower Mrs. Mower was one of 8 children. Her parents, Robert M. and Mary R. Kimball, resided in Corinna when she was born, Oct. 26, 1820, the third child and the first daughter. Three brothers, Jesse and Robert M. of Dexter, George M. of Ripley, Cynthia Kimball Boardmon of Freeport survive her. Sept. 30th, 1845, Mrs. Mower married Samuel E. Durrell, who died in 1862. May 22nd, 1866, she married Elias Adams Mower, who died in February, 1908 Mrs. Mower was the first candidate Rev. Horace Marshall baptised in Hartland. From that place she brought her letter to the First Baptist church in Dexter the year she married Mr. Mower, 1866. Mrs. Mower had lived in Dexter 21 years, having come to the town from the farm in Ripley to her late residence on Main street. Mrs. Mower's fidelity to her church surpassed anything else that entered into her life. She loved the gospel, gave $75.00 toward the liquidation of the church debt within a few weeks of her death, and kept the windows open toward Jerusalem constantly. For months last year her life was dispaired of after the departure of Mr. Mower but she has lived in comparative comfort since that time until last Saturday when she went to bed with a cold from which she did not recover, passing away Sunday night at 11. It had been her request that every item in her funeral be like that of her departed husband. The funeral was attended this forenoon at 10 o'clock by Rev. Irving D. Mower of Waterville, a relative of the family.
