Obituary	HAROLD "HAL" F. WILKINS, SR DEXTER—Harold “Hal” Wilkins, Sr., 59, beloved husband and best friend of Penny Wilkins, passed away July 21, 2005 at his residence. He was born May 9, 1946 at Boston, MA, the only son of Clair and Helen (Small) Wilkins. Harold graduated from Dexter High School, Class of 1964, attended the University of Maine. He also served six years in the Army Reserves. In 1970, Hal married Penny Reynolds and together they raised two fine young men, Joseph and Harold Jr. (Ricky). Besides his wife and family one of his many loves was snowmobiling. Hal spent over 30 years as a member of the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club, where he served many years as president, vice-president and trail master. In 2000, he was awarded Regional Trail Groomer of the year, was one of three nominees to the National Snowmobiling Hall of Fame, and received the Snowmobiler of the Year Award from the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club. Also in 2000, the Town of Dexter honored him by dedicating the Annual Town Report to him for his contributions to the town and to the sport of snowmobiling. Hal’s other interest was classic autos. He was a member of the Dusters Antique Auto Club and had served as its president and vice-president. He also loved to dance and became a member of the Country Kickers Line Dance Club. On more than one occasion Hal and Penny would drive their classic cars in local parades, festivals or fairs, and give up the wheel in the middle of the parade to perform dance demonstrations with their dance club. Harold was the National Retail Operations Supervisor for the Dexter Shoe Factory Outlets. He was the point man for the planning, development and layout of locations for the outlet stores and was the senior spokesman responsible for hiring and overseeing the day to day operations of all stores. Hal spent over 35 years contributing his best efforts to making the Dexter Shoe Company nationally recognized, until its demise when it was taken over by another company. He is survived by his mother of Dover-Foxcroft; his wife, Penny of Dexter; 2 sons, Joseph and wife Christine and their children, Meghan and Shelby, all of Yokota Air Force Base, Tokyo, Japan, Rick and his children, Cody and Makayla, all of Dexter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl and Joyce Reynolds of Enfield, CT, Clinton and Connie Tilton of Dexter, Larry and Jean Tilton of Dexter, David and Judy Brooks of Kenduskeag, Gary and Pat Leighton of Corinna, Wayne and Terry Kamieneski of Londonderry, NH, Robert and Donna Wheeler of Largo, FL; a special niece, Anne Tilton Miller; several other nieces and nephews. Special “family” friends include Andy, Greg, Alexis and Sherree Mitchell of Dexter, Linal “Getch” and Carol Getchell of Ripley, Roy and Debbie Taylor of Dover-Foxcroft. Friends may call from 6- 8 PM Monday, July 25th, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the First Universalist Church in Dexter. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. A reception will follow at the Brewster Inn, Zion’s Hill Road in Dexter.
