Obituary
Mrs. Mary E. Brackett Mrs. Mary E. Brackett died Wednesday morning at her home with L. R. Damon on Prospect street. Mrs. Brackett was the daughter of Joel Bean and Lois (Roberts) Towle, and was born Jan. 4, 1824, in Wolfboro, N. H. At the age of 21 she married the late Nathan G. Brackett the union lasting over 60 years. Mrs. Brackett was a woman of unusual comeliness, poise, reserve, refinement, cheerfulness and genuineness; for long years a skillful housewife, an unselfish homemaker, and always an esteemed neighbor. The care which she faithfully gave to her own helpless mother for five years, has been lovingly given to her through nearly seven year's confine- ment to a wheelchair. She has been for 40 years a member of the Dexter Baptist church, and she was also a member of the W. C. T. U. and the Zigzag club. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. T. H. B. Pierce and Mrs. L. R. Damon, and a brother, Mr. John R. Towle, of this place. A little son was drowned in the Androscoggin river. Funeral services will be held at her home Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
