Obituary
Mrs. Clara Bassett Flynt The friends of Mrs. Clara Bassett Flynt were shocked to learn of her sudden death at the Bassett residence on Zion's hill last Thursday evening at nine o'clock. Mrs. Flynt had not enjoyed the best health for the past year but suffered no severe illness during that period. On Thursday evening with her sister, she had en- tertained a few friends who had come to the home for a brief call. The evening had passed happily, and after the visitors had gone the two sisters proceeded to read and in a few minutes Mrs. Flynt passed away. Mrs. Flynt, was born in Dexter. During her entire life she was the possessor of many friends, who held her in highest esteem and affection, al- ways admiring her patience, fortitude and sterling character. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Bassett, the family being one of the most highly respected in town. Mrs. Flynt was a communicant of the First Universalist church, interested in its work and welfare. She leaves two sons, Guy, of Holyoke, Mass., and Harry of Manchester, Me., a sister, Mrs. Celia Page of Dexter, a brother, Harry Bassett of Lewiston. Memorial services were held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bassett residence, School and Zion streets, pastor of the First Universa- list church, Rev. Stanley Gates Spear, officiating. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. The bearers were Messrs. Taylor Edes, Amos Springall, William E. Brewster and Frank Packard, the interment was made in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
