GEORGE A.ABBOTT DEXTER - George A. Abbott, 67 died unexpectedly, Oct. 9, 1988, at his Dexter residence. He was born May 91 1921, at Salt Lake City, Utah the son of Fred and Evengeline (Red- man) Abbott. He was a veteran of World War 11, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a graduate of Lowell Textile Institute and was associated with Amos Abbott Company for many years, serving as a director and presi- dent. He owned and operated the Dexter Hardware Store for a number of years and later founded Abbott Re- alty and Insurance, Company, which he operated until his retirement in 1986. For many years, he served as a trustee of Abbott Memorial Library. He was a member of the Shirley B. Carter Post No. 4298, veterans of for- eign wars, the Poulliot-Seavey Post No. 53 American Legion, the Penob- scot Lodge No. 39, AF and AM, Saint Johns Royal Arch Chapter No. 25, the Tri-County Shrine Club, as well as several other affiliated Masonic bod- ies. He is survived by his wife, Livia of Dexter; two sons, Walter Abbott of Dallas, Texas and Fred Abbott of Providence, R.I.; one step-son, Eldor; and a step-daughter, Elga; one sister, lmogen Tillson of Dexter; two grand- daughters; one aunt, lmogen Mendo- za of Dexter; as well as several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home,238 Main St., Dexter. Donations may be made in his memory to the Little Red Schoolhouse, Dover-Foxcroft 04426.
