Obituary
Henry Harrison Lyford passed away Wednesday, Mar. 22d, at his home in Corinna at the age of 61 yrs., 5 mos., 8 days, after suffering many years with heart trouble. In his death Corinna loses one of its most esteemed citizens, one whose life had been full of usefulness and activity in many lines. He was born in 1844 on what is called Lyford's Hill in St. Albans, his ancestors being among the first settlers of that town. In 1874 be married Miss Violetta Rollins, oldest daughter of O. W. and Mary A. Rollins of Dexter, who survive him. In 1876 he moved to Corinna in which town he resided until his death. He was ever ready to extend a helping hand to the poor and needy and was never known to refuse to aid in every worthy cause which came in his way. Although he is gone his influence will live after him. He was one of a family of four children, only one of which survive him. He leaves to mourn his death, besides his wife, a maiden sister, an adopted daughter, Mrs. Adella Sherburne, wife of J. R. Sherburne of Dexter, also two nephews, Alfred E. of Lowell, Mass., and Albert L. Lyford of Portland, Me., who were present at the funeral which occurred at the home of the deceased Saturday, March 25, Rev. W. H. Gould officiating. The floral tributes showed in what esteem he was held by his neighbors and friends who gathered to pay their last respects. His remains will rest in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter. Although mourned as dead in memory he still lives.
