Lawrence R. Tibbetts DEXTER - Lawrence R.Tibbetts, 84, died Oct. 27,1996, at a Dexter health-care facility after a long ill- ness. He was born in Augusta,April 10, 1912, the son of Fred an Maude (Curtis),Tibbets. He was educated in schools of Dexter, was a graduate of N.H. Fay Hiph School in Dexter and a graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in agriculture. Lawrence played professional bas- ketball for several years. He was a civilian servent for the Navy Depart- ment,testing fire and damage con- rol systems for submarines during World War II. For more than 30 years, Lciwrence owned and operat- ed Tibbetts Oil Co. in Dexter. He also worked for many years as a machinist at Fayscott in Dexter. He attended the Dexter Methodist Church. He was married to Eveline (Gerry) Tibbitts, who died June 24, 1988. He is survived by thre sons, Gordon Tibbetts of Hampden, Galen Tibbetts of Dexter and Gary Tibbetts of, Brewer; five grandchildren, Kimber Howard of Dover-Foxcroft, Tricia Tibbetts of Hampden, Keith Tibbetts of Hampden, Leanne Rich- ardson of Dexter and Kory Tibbetts of Dexter. There are no public visit- ing hours., Graveside services will be conducted Friday, NOV. 1, at Mount Pleasdnt Cemetery, Dexter, with the Rev.Jo Bennett officiating. Friends who wish may make memo- rial donations to the Dexter United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, care of Mrs. Robert Fortier, RR 2 Box 800 Dexter. Arrangements are in the care of the Brown Funeral Home, 24 High St., Newport.
