Obituary
George Flanders George Flanders, one of Dexter's well-known and oldest citizen's, passed away last Wednesday afternoon at his home at the corner of Free and Liberty streets. Mr. Flanders bad been feeble for some time, but was confined to his bed only a few days. The deceased leaves one brother, Thomas Flanders, of this town. Mr. Flanders was born in Garland, Me., 86 years ago, where be lived with his parents until his fourth year when the family moved to New Hampshire, remaining in that state until the boy was 14 years of age, at which time they returned to Garland. Mr. Flanders was married and had one son. When his son was a young man they came to Dexter to live and since then he has made this his home town. The death of his wife and son occurred several years ago. He was a man of sterling character, upright and honest in all his dealings, and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. The funeral occurred at the home Friday afternoon at half past three, Rev. Stanley G, Spear, pastor of the Universalist church, officiating, and was largely attended. There were a great many floral offerings, among which may be mentioned a large, mounted crescent from the employees of the firm of Fay & Scott, where Mr. Flanders’ son was employed for many years. The interment was in Mount Pleasant cemetery.
