Obituary
Mrs. Philona Sevey The death of Mrs. Philona Sevey occurred at her home on Lincoln street Monday evening, May 30, at nine o'clock, her age being 74 years and eight months. Mrs. Sevey, whose maiden name was Parkman, was born in Skowhegan, but her parents moved to St. Albans when she was a small child. The greater part of her life, however, was passed in Dexter, and she had lived in the house where she died for more that thirty years. Mrs. Sevey had been in failing health for about a year, but was confined to her bed only a few weeks. She was most tenderly cared for by her son, Dr. W. O. Sevey, and wife. Besides this son she leaves another, Fred Sevey, a farmer in this town, and a daughter, Mrs. Flora Jack of North Bradford; also three brothers Benton Parkman of Hartland, John Parkman of Dexter and Alva Parkman of Leominster, Mass., and one sister, Mrs. Sylvia Crocker of St. Albans. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist church, of which she had been a member for many years, Rev R. L. Olds officiating. This community has lost a woman of sterling character, and her immediate neighborhood a kind and true friend, the course of whose life is best expressed by the words chosen by herself to be the text of her funeral service, "She hath done what she could.'' The Interment was at Mount Pleasant cemetery.
