Obituary
David R. Campbell News was received here yesterday of the death at his home in Sangerville of David R. Campbell, president of the Dumbarton Woolen company of this town and one of the most prominent woolen manufacturers in Maine. He was a native of Scotland, and was at the time of his death 78 years and 8 months of age. He came to this country when a young man and located in Dexter, being employed in the mills here. He was practically brought up in the woolen business and was considered an expert In that line. He established a woolen mill at Sangerville in 1869, and in 1886 the present large and finely equipped mill of the Campbell Manufacturing company was built at that place. In 1903 he became interested in the Stone mill, so-called, in this village, and organized the Dumbarton Woolen company, which bought the mill and began the manufacture of fancy dress goods and cloakings.
