Obituary	MRS. ELVA J. BUTTERFIELD Funeral services for Mrs. Elva J. Butterfield, 63, wife of E. Carroll Butterfield of Springfield, who died Saturday in a Lincoln hospital after a long illness, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Free Baptist Church, Dexter. The Rev. Warren S. Palmer of the Lincoln Congregational Church officiated. Burial was in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter. Bearers were three nephews, Wendell Jewett, Dexter; George Jewett, Bucksport; Ralph Jewett of Stonington; and Albert McClellan of Medford, Mass. She was born in Dexter, Aug. 7, 1888, daughter of Mrs. Lois (Thompson) Jewett and the late George Jewett. She had been a resident of Springfield about 30 years. A graduate of Farmington State Normal School, she taught in Garland, Rumford, Lee and Springfield prior to her marriage. She was a past worthy matron and a member for many years of Dobsis, Chapter No. 113, OES, and a member of the Free Baptist Church of this town. Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother of Dexter; and three brothers, Frank of West Buxton, Lynn of Dexter and Herbert of Bucksport.
