The descendants of George Abbot of Andover make a most interesting study. They are so numerous that it would seem that early Andover must have consisted largely of Abbots. There were frequent intermarriages. For instance in the branches present- ed herein, three of Nathan Abbot's sons married daughters of his broth- er, Job. Captain Abel Abbot married Sarah Abbot for his first wife; "Dea- con" Paschal Abbot's first wife was Mary Abbot; Joshua Abbot's first wife was Lydia Abbot.
