Obituary	Mrs. Lydia A. Gould The many friends in Dexter and this section of Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Bumps, will learn with regret of the passing away of Mrs. Bumps' mother, Mrs. Lydia A. Gould, at the Bumps residence Thursday afternoon, after an illness of several weeks, during which period she suffered intensely. Mrs. Gould was born in Starks, Maine, her parents being Robert and Lorana Taylor, well-known and prominent residents of that town, the family moving later to Dexter, where Mrs. Gould has since lived. When a young woman she was united in marriage with Robert T. Gould of this town, who passed away about 18 years ago. Both Mr. and Mrs. Gould were church communicants and took a great-interest in all the affairs pertaining to church life, and this interest in religious matters was maintained steadfastly by Mrs. Gould in these later years, even though slightly failing health had compelled her to relinquish active church work. She was the possessor of many friends, all of whom admired her optimistic, kindly nature, her ready sympathy; and not a few of these friends among the younger people of the town, affectionately called her "grandmother" in recognition of her interest in them and their thought of her. During her late illness her desire was to be thoughtful of the welfare of those persons who ministered to her needs. Memorial services were held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Bumps residence on Spring street, and the pastor of the First Universalist church, Rev. Stanley Gates Spear, spoke comforting words to those who had assembled to pay their final tribute of love and esteem to Mrs. Gould. A solo was rendered by Mrs. George Park. A daughter, Mrs. W. A. Bumps, and a son, W. S. Gould, superintendent of the Fay & Scott machine shops, Dexter, are left to mourn her demise; also three grandchildren, Mrs. Frank Z. Brown of Richmond, Va., Miss Imogene Bumps of Dexter, and W. S. Gould, Jr., head of the commercial department, Aroostook institute, Mars Hill, all of whom have the sympathy of the community in this sorrow. The interment was made in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Dexter.
