Obituary
Death of E. E. Hale The death of Edward E. Hale occurred suddenly at his home on Highland avenue Monday evening, the cause being ascribed to valvular disease of the heart. For several days previously he had not been in the best of health, but had continued about his work of superintending the construction of a dwelling house for his son, H. E. Hale, on Highland avenue. During the afternoon and evening he had complained of not feeling well, but his condition was not considered serious and he made plans to join his wife, who was visiting friends in Kittery, in a few days, About 8.30 he walked upstairs to his room and after getting to bed fell back on the pillow and died almost instantly. Mr. Hale was sixty-four years of age and had been a resident of Dexter for many years, coming here from Charleston, where he was born, and has worked at his trade of carpenter and builder. For some years he was connected with the militia company, Company C., and was commissioned a lieutenant of that organization. He has served efficiently as chairman of the board of health. He was a valued member of Plymouth lodge, I. 0. 0. F., being a past Noble grand of the lodge, and also, a member of Silver Lake Encampment. His work in the order had made him well-known and highly esteemed by the Odd Fellows of Central Maine. A kindly, thoughtful, genial man, he will be missed by many friends. He leaves a wife, one son, Harry E. Hale of this town, also three daughter, Mrs. James Wisner of New York City, Mrs. Geo. E. Brewster of Dexter and Mrs. I. R. Boothby of New York City, also two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Gove, Dexter, Mrs. Wilson of Wisconsin, and one brother, Charles Hale of Wisconsin. The funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Universalist church, Rev. S. G. Spear officiating.
