Obituary	Mrs. Flora Emery News has been received here of the death of Mrs. Flora Emery of East Rochester, New Hampshire, which occurred Wednesday morning. Mrs. Emery was formerly Miss Flora Ireland of this town, and leaves a number of relatives here. The Eastern Gazette 5-15-1913, p.5 Death of Former Dexter Woman Mrs. Flora Emery, wife of Station Agent Geo. D. Emery of East Rochester, N. H., died at her home Wednesday, May 14, after suffering from a cancer several weeks, aged 51 years. While it was known that her condition was very critical yet only the family were aware that the end was so near at band. The deceased was a noble Christian lady, of a sunny and cheerful disposition, always ready to assist in times of adversity with a kind act or deed or with some word of cheer that was bound to uplift the saddened one. Mrs. Emery was born in Dexter, Me., Jan. 1, 1862, where she spent her early days and attended the public schools. She came to East Rochester when about the age of 20 and has lived here ever since. She was the daughter of John P. and Martha (Day) Ireland. In 1885 she was married to Simeon P. Shorey who died several years ago, and in 1911 was married to George D. Emery, station agent at East Rochester. She was a member of the Methodist church and was very, active in the work, also a member of the East Rochester Woman's Christian Temperance Union and the Foreign Missionary society being secretary of both organizations, also the librarian of the Public library for fifteen years, until her second marriage. She leaves a husband, one son, Myron R. Shorey, of East Rochester, one daughter, Mrs. Sumner C. Sleepof of East Rochester, three brothers, Francis A. Ireland of Pittsfield, Mass., Eben of Madison, Me., and Olin F. of Somerville, Mass. The brothers were all present at the funeral. The Eastern Gazette 5-22-1913, p.5
