Charles Fitzgerald Charles Fitzgerald, aged 82 years, died yesterday in the West Penn hospital after a lingering illness. He was born in Dexter, Maine, and early in life engaged in mechanical pursuits. In 1875 he moved to Pittsburgh and for several years lived at 1306 Sheffield street. Pittsburgh, (Pa.) Chronical Telegraph. Mr. Fitzgerald will be remembered by the older residents of Dexter, although he left here some thirty-five years ago to reside in Pittsburgh. He was the eldest son of George Fitzgerald, who came to Dexter about 1830 and engaged in the machine business and manufacture of axes. Later on he established a stove foundry which was carried on by his sons, George F. and Joseph H. Geo. Fitzgerald may be said to have been the originator of the machine business which has become one of the leading industries of the town.
