Obituary
The remains of Charles Gideon Wing, who died at his home in Winslow Fiday, were brought to Dexter Monday morning for burial in Mount Pleasant cemetery. In his younger years Mr. Wing resided in Dexter, where he married his wife, who is a sister of L. W. Jose of this town. By trade Mr. Wing was a printer and for many years after leaving here was proprietor of the Waterville Mail. For the past twnty years he has resided in Winslow where he was engaged in farming The Eastern Gazette 2-8-1912, p.5 Charles Gideon Wing The death of Charles Gideon Wing which occurred Friday noon, Feb. 2, at his home in Winslow, marks the passing of an old and highly respected resident. Mr. Wing was born in Waterville 76 years and 11 months ago. His early education was obtained there and it was in Waterville that he learned the printer's trade. Soon after he removed to Massachusetts, where he practised his vocation for a period, and he also resided for a time in Dexter, where he married Miss Jennie Jose, who survives. He enlisted in the Union army. In later years he became proprietor of the Waterville Mail, a weekly paper printed in Waterville. For the past twenty years be had resided on a farm in Winslow. Mr. Wing was a genial and companionable man, who found great pleasure in books, a trait that he shared with Mrs. Wing. Friends always found a cordial welcome at his home, and he received many visitors. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home, conducted by Rev. Joshua M, Frost of the Pleasant street Methodist church. The Grand Army service was carried out by W. S. Heath Post, G. A. R., of which the deceased was a member, a delegation being present from the Post. A male quartet sang, and Rev. Mr. Frost delivered a touching eulogy on the memory of Mr. Wing.
