Obituary
Lewis W. Jose The many friends in Dexter and nearby towns of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis W. Jose will learn with deep regret of the passing away of Mr. Jose at his home in Spring street, after an illness of short duration. Mr. Jose was one of the towns well known and prominent citizens and although nearly 86 years of age, was exceptionally active in the management of his estate and was able to continue to carry on his affairs until within a short time. He was born in Dexter 86 years ago, this coming month, the son of prominent Dexter citizens, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Jose. In early life he was united in marriage with Miss Sybilla Shaw and with her has been prominent in the affairs of Dexter grange, the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs and the other social activities of the town. He was a past master of Dexter Grange and a past noble grand of Plymouth lodge, I. 0. 0. F. of Dexter, a member of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge and was a member highly valued by these different orders. A son was born of the Jose marriage, Hallie N. Jose, whose passing away occurred a little more than a year ago as the result of pneumonia. Mr. Jose leaves a wife, Mrs. Sybilla Jose, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hallie Jose, and three grandchildren, all of whom reside at the Jose home in Spring street. A brother, Scott Jose survives, also a sister, Mrs. Jennie J. Wing, of Winslow. The family have the sincere sympathy of the community in this sorrow. Funeral services took place Wednesday afternoon at two o clock at the Jose residence, the pastor of the Methodist church, Rev. A. B. McAlister, officiating. The bearers were the same friends who acted in a similar capacity at the time of the death of Mr. Joses son, Hallie: Messrs. Geo. Slater, A. H. Fassett, Albert Bentley, and William Dearborn. The interment was in the Jose lot at Mount Pleasant cemetery, Dexter.
